Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the answers to the most frequent questions I
get asked.
What program do you use for creating your graphics ??
Paintshop Pro mostly, which you can get from
http://www.jasc.com, I also use Adobe Photoshop,
Fractal Design Painter and a few others.
What program do you use for creating your web pages ??
I've tried hundreds, but now I only use WebEdit 2.0
For Windows 95, I don't use any of the features that
automatically create pages or insert tags, I just type
it all manually, I could just use a word processor I
suppose....Web Edit is available from
http://www.sandiego.com/webedit/
How do you create your buttons ??
Again I use Paintshop Pro, but you need a set of what
are called "Plug-In Filters", the ones I use for creating
buttons are called "NVR Bordermania". If you go to
Banner World at
http://www.stuff.uk.com/banners you'll see a button
marked "Tutorial" on the left, go into here and you'll find
loads of info on Plug-In's plus links to places where they
can be downloaded.
Where's the tutorial section ??
See "How do you create your buttons" above.
I've got a picture on my page, I want people to go
to another site when they click on the picture, how
do I do this ??
Suppose the picture is called "picture.gif" the code
you need is...
<A HREF="http://www.destination.com">
<IMG SRC="picture.gif"></A>
You need to replace "http://www.destination.com" with
the URL you want people to go to when they click on
the picture.
I've put a link to you on my page, but the button
doesn't show up, what am I doing wrong ??
One of two things, either you've not saved the little logo
onto your hard disk and uploaded it to your server, or
you've saved the little logo under a different name than
it says in the code. The code is....
<A HREF="http://www.aaa-banners.com">
<IMG SRC="stufbutt.gif"></A>
If you've saved the button under a different name you
need to change the "stufbutt.gif" in the code above to
whatever you've called the button.
If you've not got
the button there's one here, right click on it and
save it as "stufbutt.gif", upload it to your server and
insert the code above where you want the button to
appear.
How do I download images on my MAC ??
Click on the image you want and HOLD DOWN the mouse
button, when the menu appears select "Save Image As"
from this menu.
I'm having problems downloading images, what's wrong ??
The main problem seems to be AOL, there seems to be no way to
download images when using their own browser. The solution is
either to get a copy of Netscape (keyword Netscape), or send
me an e-mail containing the names of the images you want, and
the sections they're in, and I'll e-mail them to you.
